The Howland Group, Inc. is proud to announce
the launch of SeaWitch Global Shipping and
Logistics, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary. The name of our
newest venture was inspired by the tea
clipper vessel Sea Witch originally owned by
the firm of Howland and Aspinwall.
Sea Witch, launched in Manhattan on December
8, 1946, was built for speedy movement of
high-valued freight. In 1849 she sailed a
record setting run from Hong Kong to New
York in just 74 days. According to Wikipedia
“this March 1849 mark is one of the oldest
human speed records remaining as of 2009,
having not yet been bettered by any sailing
vessel.”
