The Howland Group had

privately-owned and operated fully integrated general
cargo enterprise. The firm worked directly with the
executive management to design and implement innovative
growth strategies. Such strategies involved customers,
other transportation providers and government entities,
and aimed at improving intermodal services,
increasing productivity, advancing asset utilization and
rationalization and infrastructure upgrades.

brokers, The Howland Group worked directly with executive
management to evaluate new business strategies and
identify new business opportunities.

On behalf of the
Pennsylvania General Assembly, the Howland Group managed
a project to develop a situation assessment and advocate
the needs of the Commonwealth’s port, rail and
intermodal systems.

The Howland Group
managed a project team of legal, financial, industry and
economic advisors to acquire a failing railroad. The
project involved extensive due diligence and analysis of
economic, legal, financial and business conditions. The
project’s ultimate success involved complex negotiations
and discussions. The project resulted in the successful
acquisition of the railroad by a Class I North American
firm that invested in new services and facilities.

port interests, local terminal railway and shippers, the
Howland Group managed a project to develop a community
strategy to maintain and expand competitive rail service
during the CSX/NS acquisition of Conrail merger.
