The Howland Group, Inc. is proud to announce
the launch of SeaWitch Global Shipping and
Logistics, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary.
The name of our newest venture was inspired
by the tea clipper vessel Sea Witch
originally owned by the firm of Howland and
Aspinwall.
Sea Witch, launched in Manhattan on December
8, 1946, was built for speedy movement of
high-valued freight. In 1849 she sailed a
record setting run from Hong Kong to New
York in just 74 days. According to Wikipedia
“this March 1849 mark is one of the oldest
human speed records remaining as of 2009,
having not yet been bettered by any sailing
vessel.”
SeaWitch Global Shipping and
Logistics, LLC was formed as a new U.S. citizen and
minority owned entrant into the U.S. shipping
industry. SeaWitch services include:
Ship
management
Ship operations
Vessel chartering
Transportation logistics
services including planning and scheduling of
shipments
Supply chain logistics services
including storage, transportation, and delivery
SeaWitch and its
sister corporation, RAPID Service, LLC, are
partnered to bring next generation tools and
services to commercial and military customers with
requirements to move high-value, time-sensitive
cargo worldwide within a high-speed, secure,
end-to-end distribution system.
While SeaWitch Global Shipping and Logistic’s
namesake was focused on the speed between ports,
we are focused on the velocity through the
entire supply chain from the earliest point of
identification of a movement requirement to the
final point of delivery. Throughout the process
we utilize RAPID Service’s tools and services to
provide our customers with enhanced in-transit
visibility and security so they know where their
products are at all times within the supply
chain.
