Col. (Ret.) Tom E. Thompson serves as a transportation and distribution management consultant specializing in world-wide end-to-end Department of Defense surface distribution using commercial carriers and facilities. Col. Thompson served more than 30 years as a U.S. Army Transportation Officer and Comptroller. He has served on both the Army and Joint Staffs at the Pentagon, commanded port operations throughout the Gulf of Mexico, Europe, Africa and Southwest Asia, and served at the Headquarters for Surface Deployment and Distribution Command as Director of Operations and Chief of Staff. Col. Thompson has extensive leadership experience in operational and strategic planning, transportation simulation development, business process and information systems integration, and multi-modal distribution planning, operations, intransit visibility, asset visibility, information sharing and security.
