In response to ocean
carrier port rationalization strategies that decreased
service and increased the cost of international
shipments, on behalf of a trade association, the Howland
Group managed a project to explore the potential of
creating a shippers association. The goal of the
shippers association was to represent small and
mid-sized shippers trading between the U.S. and Northern
Europe.
The Howland Group
maintained a long-term working relationship with an
electrical industry trade association in order to
educate its members about major industry policy changes
and formulate appropriate responses. To achieve this,
the Howland Group coordinated industry stakeholders,
including contractors, other trade associations and a
public utility. Additionally, the Howland Group produced
newsletters, white papers, formal testimony and a
municipal directory for electrical and HVAC contractors.
The Howland Group also coordinated contractors’ efforts
to obtain a Pennsylvania-wide license requirement.
